Art has always intrigued me be it hand rendered or digitally created. It all started years ago with a box of Crayola Crayons and a sheet of manila paper. Soon my first camera, a 126-film camera, took center stage freezing moments in time and sealed the future in pictures--so it seemed. After obtaining a degree and working in film photography and wedding videography, a series of auto mishaps left me injured and questioning my future in this new upcoming digital era. I needed an upgrade--an expansion digitally speaking! The desire to do art digitally in the form of Graphic and Web design became more evident.
Themes of social awareness, causes, and bringing light to issues are common in my body of editorial work. Helping others is the motive. Either the use of background textures or lack of background textures in the project help to set the mood or feeling of the subject. Perhaps the most important aspect of imagery is the way light falls on the subject. Shape, color, tone, and texture are revealed accordingly and communicate unique messages. The message can be changed like the flip of a switch.
Current work includes editorial spreads, ad design, invitational projects, front end web design, and imaging. My graphic design has grown from a combination of merged talent in art. It is all a journey in an ever-changing medium attempting to create foundational pieces powerful enough to evoke a response. With my life experience in art and upgrade in education, I hope to capture the viewer powerfully. Moreover I hope to artfully gift to others, what was given to me, a sense of found peace.
